I noticed the extensible tongue and wanted to know more about this feature.
The tongue is telescopic. It can be extended appx 3 ft. The
extension settings are set up in one foot increments, which allow for 4
different settings.
The extension arm is all aluminum as well as the frame incorporated receiver.
There are a few reasons behind the telescoping tonge. One of the
reasons is that it provides the option of adjusting it to lessen the
tongue weight for lighter duty vehicles. Another reason is so that you
may tow the Oliver behind a pickup with the tongue extended to allow
you do drop the tailgate as needed.
Of course having the extension will provide easier towing in almost
any situation as it diverts some of the tongue weight further back
toward the axle.
On most all vehicles that we have used in tow testing, it was not necessary to extend the tongue for tight turning.
